Artist can be synchronised with an external audio or video source using MIDI Time Code (MTC). Professional audio equipment can have a seperate track on to which you can record time code. This is a digital stream striped on to the track that represents absolute time through the duration of the recording. This means that at any point of the audio source the time code track ensures that Artist knows exactly where it is.

The digital stream on an Audio tape is in SMPTE format. This requires another device that converts SMPTE to MTC. The MTC signal is connected to the Artist computer on MIDI.

Striping

During the recording of your audio track you can simultaneously record the time code track generated by the SMPTE device. Once this is complete and Artist is connect you can play the audio track and monitor the incoming time code in the Master/Time Code window.

You are now ready to create your time code events.
